Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd October, 2016

Today's weather;

It's partially clouded over Koh Samui this morning and the sun is having a ball in the blue parts of the sky. It looks like a nice sunny and warm day is in the making, enjoy it! Current temp at 7am is 28C

On Phuket the monsoon season is almost at it's end but it's here in full force to remind us that it's not gone yet! It's grey and wet here although for the time being the wind has dropped. A lot of rain had been predicted for today. Current temp at 7am is 25.2C

The current September - October PADI IDC here on Phuket has already passed the halfway mark and I blogged about the current program yesterday, have a read here, Today we will be all day out on the dive boat, taking care of the open water dives of the current program.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 3rd October, 2016

On Phuket the vegetarian festival is in full swing and at various parts around the island, at different communities their will be daily processions where people will go in a trance and pierce body parts, mostly their cheeks, with a wide variety of objects, ranging from small to very objects. Phuket is well known as being one of the places in Thailand where this is celebrated, I also know of Hat Yai and have witnessed such a procession there, possibly ten years back. On Koh Samui I haven't seen this, although in Nathon this may be happening. As part of the festival, nationwide there will be a 9 day vegetarian period, which again, on Phuket is very popular and happening a lot. This can also be found on koh Samui, if you know what to look for. A lot of restaurants will wave a yellow flag with red lettering, indicating that they serve vegetarian food. Soon I will post a picture of such a flag or banner.

The forecast for the next days around Koh Samui has changed slightly, in general more wind can now be expected, especially around and after next weekend the wind is supposed to pick up but the partially cloudy and fairly sunny skies should stay, accompanied occasionally by a tropical shower. The looming monsoon season on Koh Samui still seems to be far away.
